A Modern Home for E-Governance
New IT Agency will host e-government services

TIRANA, May 19, 2008 –
Albania’s National Agency for the Information Society (NAIS) was inaugurated today in a ceremony held in the Agency’s modern new offices, refurbished by the US Government, located next to the National Registration Center. The ceremony also transferred ownership of the e-government services developed by the Millennium Challenge Albania project to the Albanian Government.  Read more »

USAID Support for Albanian Capital Markets
TIRANA, JULY 14, 2008 A new law on investment funds, expected to pave the way for the development of capital and pensions markets in Albania, is currently being drafted with the support of USAID. In the coming weeks, USAID will also support other initiatives to pave the way for development of a private stock exchange in Albania by helping to write a regulation to govern the exchange.  Read more »

Promoting Dialogue between Vlora Citizens and the Court
VLORA, JULY 11, 2008 Today, USAID’s Rule of Law Program, in partnership with the Vlora District Court, held a community forum to promote dialogue between citizens and the court. At the event, judges, citizens, lawyers, prosecutors, civil society organizations and media representatives shared ideas about how the court in Vlora can improve transparency and accountability to its citizens.
