USAID, Serious Crimes Court Partner on Judicial Reforms
TIRANË, MARCH 28, 2008 Today the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) signed a memorandum of Understanding with the First Instance Serious Crimes Court to support efforts to improve court performance, accountability and transparency. The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Mr. Sander Simoni, Chief Judge of the First Instance Serious Crimes Court, Mr. John Brannaman, USAID Program Officer, and Mr. Rozario Rica Chancellor of the First Instance Serious Crimes Court in a ceremony organized for the occasion.
USAID will assist the First Instance Serious Crimes Court until July 2010 to modernize the court’s computerized systems for registration and maintenance of accurate trial record; to establish and improve case processing and delay reduction systems; and to increase transparency on court budget management.
