Financial Expert Shares Details of USAID Support for Albanias Stock Exchange
TIRANA, July 27, 2008 Mr. Krzysztof Grabowski, an advisor on financial markets with the Polish Financial Supervision Authority and Financial Services Volunteer Corps (FSVC) member, appeared on a 20-min special about the Albanian stock exchange aired by news-based OraNews TV. Grabowski shared details of his USAID-supported initiative, through the U.S.-based not-for-profit FSVC, to assist with drafting an investment fund law and regulations to govern Albanias stock market. The station highlighted Grabowskis statement that Albania was ready for a capital market and the benefits to the Albanian economy would be multifaceted. Through FSVC, USAID is assisting Albanias financial sector in becoming safer, more attractive to new sources of capital, and more efficient at deploying existing capital resources. The three year program utilizes leading financial, legal and regulatory experts from FSVC, which provides technical assistance to Albanias central bank capabilities, commercial banking systems and capital markets efforts.
